A women / and her children who have decided to leave an abusive relationship and move toward living independently within the community. A client that has expressed a desire to make a change in her life through commitment to participate in the program offered. And a woman who has indicated her willingness to develop a protection plan.

If you require assistance and support, please call our 24 hour phone line (204) 734-9368, intake is available on a 24 hour basis, seven days a week. Access to our Centre is through direct or indirect referrals.

Our shelter is located in Swan River, Manitoba. We do not disclose our physical address to protect the safety of the women and children staying at the shelter. If you require a physical address, please contact our Centre by telephone (204)734-9368.

Identification for you and any children in your care (Driver’s License, S.I.N (social insurance number), Birth Certificate, health cards), any personal belongings of choice and comfort. We do have limited storage, please be discerning with larger items.

The first 30 days of residency at Shelter will be covered by crisis accommodations, at zero cost to you, this includes, food, hygiene products, and all crisis services provided. After the 30 days of shelter, if applicable, a resident’s stay can transition into Secondary Housing Accommodations, and you may enter into a rental agreement. Upon this transition, you will be responsible for the costs of your own food and hygiene products, etc. All crisis counselling and support services will remain free of charge.

The length of stay is based upon an assessment of each women / family

Unfortunately, our shelter cannot accommodate pets, and you will have to find other arrangements. We have a local Animal Shelter that may be able to assist you and the safety of your pets while you are in residence at our Crisis Centre.

We have 4 individual and private suites, that are fully furnished, with their own kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living space. There is a shared common area with a children’s play space, as well as shared laundry. Our individual suites provide safety, privacy and comfort to those in residence. We also have a fenced in yard to provide privacy for outside activities and play equipment for the children in residency.

To participate in all group programs, individual counselling, maintaining a clean and orderly space (individual and shared), follow all safety measures of centre, and follow house guidelines, cook their own meals, do their own laundry

Childcare is provided for appointments, such as medical, mental health, financial, EIA, and counselling, etc.), or upon appropriate arrangements with staff.

The Crisis Centre offers continued counselling support and advocacy for residents that have left the centre. Our support is customized to the needs and wellbeing of our residents, and non-residents within the community.

Yes, we do offer parenting sessions and Anger Management counselling for male genders. Unfortunately, our housing does not accommodate men and only serves women and children.

The Crisis Centre will provide appropriate clothing, hygiene products, and basic necessities upon your arrival for you and your children (if applicable).

Yes, the Crisis Centre has a telephone for residents, Wi-Fi will be provided to residents and computer access is available

Yes, counselling, support and advocacy are provided to non-residents of the community, please reach out if you require our assistance for yourself and/or your children.

Counsellors will assist you in securing alternative and safe housing for when your stay is over at the crisis centre. However, we can only act as an advocate, and it is your responsibility to follow the necessary steps and appropriate paperwork to apply for housing in the community.

All visitors must be approved by staff, and approval is based upon each individual situation. Some visitors may not be approved.
